Excuse me, but you seem to have herpes in your hair.

Please forgive my absence. I am currently working on vamping up my *ahem* professional blog, Art Teachers Hate Glitter. Which, by the way, is a true blue fact. One of my art teacher friends described glitter as "the herpes of the art room." Don't believe me? Go buy some. Use it once. And then watch it spread all over your house. It's contagious, man.

Anymess, if you're so inclined, feel free to mosey on over there. Sometime in the near future I'll probably link it to this here bloggy blog. We'll see. Never know how those things are gonna go though.

Be back shortly (because I just can't seem to stay away).

I hear cheating husbands hate glitter too. Maybe one day I'll get my head out of the gutter...
Off to check out the other blog!

I always hated subbing for art teachers for a variety of reasons that you allude to.

- The glitter and other substances are effing everywhere. I knew that by the end of the day, my clothes would have a grime of whatever substance they were using in class that day, whether it was paint or glitter or chalk or crayon or clay.

- It's always hard to keep the kids on task when you're a sub, but especially so when it is a subjective class like art. And especially when you have such poor art skills as someone like me.

- Combining with the previous point, the worst would be the class right after lunch. The kids would already be hyper, and it would just get worse.

I will say though that one fifth grade girl inexplicably drew a picture for me. I kept it; it was cute of her to do that.

I let kids play with glitter at my house last Christmas. All the penicillin in the world will not get rid of it.

Good luck with the new blog!
